FC 27 Draft Splits FUT Fans: Is 15,000 Coins Worth It?
Published 2026-09-27 · DB.Coins Blog
Draft was supposed to be one of the quiet wins of FC 27's launch. Instead, it has become one of the most argued-about corners of Ultimate Team this week — and the fight is entirely about money.
What changed, and why people noticed
Draft rewards have been reworked for FC 27, and the entry fee sits at 300 FC Points, 15,000 coins, or one Draft Token. A run is a maximum of four matches and ends the moment you lose, which is the part that makes the maths sting.
What set the community off is the gap between the two reward tables. Online Draft and Single Player Draft do not pay the same, and players who went offline first came away feeling short-changed. Threads on the FC subreddit have swung from genuine praise for the new reward structure to blunt complaints that offline Draft has never justified its entry cost — sometimes inside the same thread.
The two sides of the argument
"It's a coin trap." The loudest camp points out that a full offline run can end with gold packs that roughly cover what you paid to get in. On a launch-week market, where fodder and meta cards are at their most expensive, a break-even pack is effectively a loss once you count the hour you spent.
"You're playing it wrong." The counter-argument is that Draft was never meant to be an offline coin printer. Online Draft pays materially better, and the consensus estimate floating around right now is that you need three or four online wins to reliably clear the 15,000-coin entry at current prices. Below that, you are paying for practice and untradeable squad-building material, not profit.
Both sides are right about different things, which is exactly why the argument will not die.
The honest read for coin-conscious players
| Entry route | When it makes sense |
| Draft Token | Almost always — the entry is free |
| 15,000 coins | Only if you win online consistently (3+ wins) |
| 300 FC Points | Hard to defend on pure value right now |
| Draft Token Upgrade SBC | Later in the cycle, once 82-rated fodder gets cheap |
The smart play this week is to stop paying cash or coins for Draft entirely. EA Play members receive Draft Tokens on a recurring basis, tokens turn up in packs and objectives, and there is a Draft Token Upgrade SBC in the Upgrades tab with an 82-rated squad requirement. In launch week that SBC frequently costs more than 15,000 coins in fodder, so park it — but flag it for October, when fodder prices normally settle and it becomes one of the better coin-to-Draft conversions in the game.
The other reframe worth taking seriously: treat Draft as a FUT Gallery feeder rather than a profit engine. If the pulls help you grade sets and push Gallery levels, the entry fee is buying progression, not coins. Judge it on that and the value looks very different.
What this means for the market
Expect Draft-driven demand to keep low-end gold fodder firm through the first week, especially anything that slots into an 82-rated squad. If you are sitting on cheap 80-82 golds, launch week is a reasonable window to list them rather than hoard. And if you are short on coins for your own Draft entries, remember that every 15,000-coin run is a card you did not buy.
