FC 27 Fans Split Over the Season Points Cut

A glitch, a patch, and a very annoyed player base

FC 27's Season 1 Pass was supposed to be the quiet part of the launch. Instead it has become one of the loudest arguments in Ultimate Team right now.

Here is the short version. In the final days of early access, players found a Season Points bug that ignored the daily match-play cap. Play non-stop, keep banking SP, and the entire 30-level Season 1 track could be cleared with roughly four weeks still left on the clock. Screenshots of fully claimed passes started doing the rounds on X and Reddit, and that was that.

EA's answer arrived in the 24 September title update: objective SP values came down across the board. Reporting on the patch puts Weekly Objectives at 500 SP, Manager Objectives at 700 SP, Player tasks at 750 SP and The Grounds tasks at 1,100 SP — a weekly objective ceiling that fell from roughly 3,950 SP to around 3,050 SP.

Why the community is split

Players arguing EA got it right say the exploit was genuinely broken and had to be shut before Season 1 lost all meaning. If a maxed pass takes four days instead of four weeks, the whole reward ladder stops being a ladder.

The other side is harder to dismiss. The people who triggered the nerf already have their rewards. Everyone who bought the standard edition, started on time and played by the rules now walks a longer road to the same cards — and because there is no catch-up mechanic, a day you skip is SP you simply never get back. The sentiment doing the rounds is that the fair players got the bill for someone else's exploit.

There is a third group just asking a simple question: will EA roll anything back? Plenty of posts are calling for bans or reversals on accounts that abused the cap. EA has not committed to either, so treat any talk of mass rollbacks as unconfirmed for now.

What the SP maths looks like after the patch

The practical takeaway for anyone starting FC 27 now: the daily match cap is the thing that actually decides whether you finish the pass. Log in, clear the 850 even if it is a couple of Squad Battles games on a weeknight after work, and the weekly objectives become a bonus rather than your lifeline. Missing three evenings in a week hurts far more than it did before 24 September.

A sensible weekly rhythm for Indian players

  • Knock out daily match SP early — Rivals resets land in the morning IST, so you are not fighting the late-night queue.
  • Prioritise The Grounds tasks over Weekly Objectives now that the gap between them is this wide.
  • Treat Season 1 as a 30-day project, not a weekend sprint. There is no way to buy back lost days.

What this means for the market

Slower pass progression means fewer free packs flowing into clubs over the season, and fewer packs means less untradeable fodder and less cheap supply hitting the transfer market. Expect squad-building fodder and mid-tier golds to hold their value a little more stubbornly than they did in the first fortnight — prices settled lower and faster in FC 26 partly because reward packs arrived in bigger waves.

The honest read: the nerf is a mild advantage for players who already have a coin cushion and a mild tax on everyone grinding from zero. If your club is thin and your pass is crawling, the transfer market is now doing more of the work than your rewards are.
