FC 27 Fans Are Sick of the Same Names Getting Scream Cards

Team 1 lands tonight, and the argument started before the cards did

Ultimate Scream Team 1 is widely reported to go live today, Friday 23 October, at 6pm UK — around 10:30pm IST, with the event expected to run roughly two weeks into early November. EA had not published the final squad as this was written, so every name and rating floating around is leak-level and unconfirmed.

That has not stopped the community from picking a fight. And for once it is not about the promo mechanic — it is about who keeps getting cards.

The complaint: "the same twenty players, every promo"

Leak posts naming Raphinha for a Scream item pulled in a wave of replies running along one line: he already has multiple special versions this cycle, and EA keeps recycling the same small pool of popular, meta-friendly names while hundreds of players never see a single special. One outlet covering the leaks raised the same question independently. Players making this argument say promos have stopped feeling like events and started feeling like a rotation of the same squad.

A second thread running alongside it: whether another headline Cristiano Ronaldo card is justified on current form, or whether it is purely a nostalgia play.

The other side

The pushback is just as blunt. Plenty of players point out that EA builds promos around the cards people actually use — a Scream version of an obscure centre-back sits in packs and nobody grinds for it. Others are simply happy about the Heroes angle, with retro names reportedly attached to Team 1, and see that as EA spreading cards wider, not narrower.

There is also a fairness point worth flagging: a lot of the "leaked cards" being dunked on are fan-made concept images, not EA artwork. Some of this week's outrage is aimed at designs EA never made.

What is actually confirmed vs circulating

What this means for your coins

This is where the debate stops being cosmetic and starts costing money.

  • The boosted week is a price trap. If the temporary 99-stat and full-chemistry boost does land on the Beaver Moon in late November, affected cards tend to spike while the boost is live and sag once it expires. Buying a Scream card during its boosted week is usually the worst possible entry point.
  • Expect two weeks of downward pressure on golds. Promo supply, Weekend League rewards and a fresh SBC fodder sink all land together. At least one price-tracking site expects falling prices across the Scream window. If you are planning a big buy, patience generally pays here.
  • Repeat specials weaken older cards. This is the practical cost of the "same names" complaint: every new special version of a player drags down demand for his earlier ones. If you are holding an older special of a heavily-carded name, it is usually better to move it before the newer version arrives, not after.
  • Fodder gets expensive, not cheap. 83-85 rated golds normally climb once Scream SBCs go live, so grab fodder early if you intend to grind the sets.

Our take

The complaint is fair but slightly misdirected. EA is not short of players — it is short of players the community will grind for, and that is a problem the player base created as much as EA did. The more useful move is to ignore the lineup discourse and play the calendar: stay liquid through the first week, let the hype prices settle, and buy into the cards you want once the initial supply flood arrives.
