FC 27 Fans Can't Agree How to Spend Ultimate Scream Tokens

The argument that took over FUT this week

The Ultimate Scream Token Store went live on 23 October at 10:30 PM IST, and within hours the conversation stopped being about the cards and started being about the spending plan. Players across Reddit threads and FUT X posts are split into two camps: grind every token you can for the big-ticket Hero at the top of the store, or ignore it completely and hoover up the cheap items at the bottom.

It is a more interesting fight than it sounds, because tokens are not coins. You cannot buy them, you cannot sell what you get with them, and they vanish when the store closes.

What the store actually asks of you

Reported pricing for the headline items looks like this:

ItemToken cost
87 Scream Hero (headline)1,500
87 Scream Hero (second)900
86 Scream player550
85 Scream player300
83 Scream player50
Winger Evolution900
Cosmetic Scream Evolution100

The store is open for roughly 21 days with no weekly limit, closing around 13 November at 11:29 PM IST — about a week after the event itself is reported to end. Tokens come from themed objective groups, daily puzzle SBCs and match-based content across Rivals, Squad Battles and Rush.

Here is the sticking point. Trackers listing the live content at launch counted only a few hundred tokens actually available so far, while community estimates of the full two-week total sit closer to 2,000. Those higher figures are unconfirmed — nobody can tell you yet whether a 1,500-token item is comfortably reachable or whether it will eat your entire event.

The two camps

"Go for the Hero." Players in this camp argue the top item is the only thing in the store you genuinely cannot get elsewhere, and that an untradeable Hero you grind for is a card you would otherwise pay a serious coin premium for on the market. If you were going to play the games anyway, the tokens are free.

"The top item is a trap." The pushback is simpler maths. The headline Hero costs more than the second Hero and the 86 combined — so one card, or two usable cards plus change. Players making this case also point out that the cheap 83 at 50 tokens is the best value item in the store by a mile, and that the Evolutions cost a fraction of a Hero while upgrading a card you already own.

The Evolutions argument has its own wrinkle. Community voting pages are broadly positive on both the defender and winger Evos — they are short, needing only a handful of games and no wins — but one widely shared breakdown called the 900-token winger Evo bad value next to everything else on the shelf. Both things can be true: a good Evolution at a bad price.

The upgrade question nobody can answer

Running underneath all of it is the dynamic upgrade debate. EA has confirmed a moon-window boost that pushes face stats to 99 with full chemistry, but talk of a second permanent full-moon upgrade and specific Role+ dates in late November and December is leak material, not confirmed. Last year Scream Evolutions were excluded from the upgrades entirely, and EA has not said whether that still applies.

That matters a lot for a 900-token Evolution. If Evos are excluded again, the gap between the Evo path and the player path widens considerably.

Our take, and what it means for coins

Buy the 50-token card the moment you can — it is free value. Then wait a few days before committing to the 1,500-token Hero, because by then you will know how many tokens the event actually hands out and whether the upgrade rules cover Evolutions.

The coin angle is the part most people miss. Token items are untradeable, so none of this touches your transfer market balance. Meanwhile the tradeable Team 1 Scream cards tend to drift downward as packs flood in through the first week, which is where your coins belong — on cards you can resell later, not on grinding content for items locked to your club.
